I am delighted to announce that whilst I was away the Reach Out for Nepal Bank account received a surprise deposit, well I say surprise but we had been briefed that a donation or two might be coming via Foreign friends of the late Dc. Tony Jones but we never expected anything like £1,500.00 that hit the account this week! With a bit of work we soon discovered that it had come from Hong Kong’s Civil Aid Service (CAS) with whom Tony had a long association through his Mountain Rescue training activities. Simply a massive thank you to Mr. James Ho & all his colleagues at CAS it is very much appreciated by us all.
Also whilst I was away monies continued to roll in, Ian Draisey & his cycling pals figure reached £800, we sold the 4th signed print in our Doug Scott series (there are still more of these collector items available) & donations for my charity run continue to edge higher.
All of this means that our total now exceeds £9,250.00. With more monies due, more prints to sell & the scary thought that I have been asked to give a presentation in October to our Cafe friends, the guys & girls from Prestatyn Walkers (in aid of Nepal, think they had been drinking from hip flasks on the mountains before they asked me!), there is now a very real possibility that we will break through the £10,000.00 barrier.
Of course with all this generosity comes responsibility so we will soon be discussing the Melamchi School project in detail with Doug Scott’s team at CAN, I look forward to updating you on this within the coming weeks.
But it doesn’t stop there, 2017 Reach Out for Nepal Day is already on our minds so August will see the initial planning get under way. If you have any ideas or feel you want to be actively involved in an activity or challenge simply contact us & we will be delighted to explore your ideas.
