This one will be short (honest) as the next post will take priority.

Walked in Slippers all last week hoping the blister from hell would heal in time for the Trail Wales Half Marathon. Tapered impeccably until Friday when a trot 5K was needed first thing to see if the race was at least start-able, blister fine but calves had all sort of pains shooting through them, only one sensible thing to do, I committed to the race & began praying to someone else’s God.

With Chris cheering me on at various vantage points & even being kind enough to hand me my Gel pouch just before the final ‘Sting in the Tail’ climb I felt good & new blisters excluded ran pain free to come home in 1:52:41 placing 57th out of 551 finishers, more than happy with that all things considered despite missing a pb by a minute & a half. Great event so thanks to Matt & all those who helped him pull it together.

Now some serious tapering (walk with Chris today in glorious weather doesn’t count as over doing it in my book Kean) before the climax to my Big June, this weekend’s charity Siabod Summit Challenge. I have quite a lot of people who have threatened to strap me down if I am seen within reaching distance of my collection of running shoes prior to that, come on guys you can trust me to be sensible, your concern is surely mis-placed!!

See I was quite short for me at least.

PS. We have just received delivery of our new range of Piper’s Crisp which include: ‘Kirby Malham Chorizo’, ‘Wissington Spicy Tomato’ & ‘Anglesey Sea Salt’ among others. Dorina & I fell for them on a recent outing to Liverpool, they are seriously tempting!
