Simply a great race & day from all points of view. With over 2,700′ of ascent (& lets not forget the same amount of descent for those increasingly tired quads) this is no City Marathon so I think we all deserve a pat on the back for just taking it on. I have to say we received plenty of hand patting from the multitude of kids & other spectators as we slowly meandered our way

The said footwearA quick thank you to Iain who on Sunday diagnosed my road running shoes as completely & utterly past it, all I said was I’ve got a bit of a pain in my right foot at which point he asked to see them! Hope his promised rice cake makes up for the dent it’s done to my confidence. That aside last gentle training run done yesterday, yes in those shoes, feeling good, excited

Reduced Opening Hours Saturday 25th October
A quick note to say that this Saturday we will be closing our doors at 6:00pm. This is a one off & simply due to our hosting our friends from Team 333 who have chosen us again as the venue for their AGM. Looking forward to my first attempt at this prestigious event at last. I had previously entered in 2012 but pulled out after Nepal entered my radar instead. Having clocked up a lot of road miles with steep climbs whilst in Italy & Romania recently (although the car clocking up 5,400 miles put my efforts to shame) I was feeling that my endurance prep has gone well but was feeling that my route prep was fast
