Paul’s Blog – Betws y Coed Trail Challenge -Posted 04/11/14

Having piled on the miles over the last week I decided to give the Clywydians a miss last Sunday due to a feeling that my legs were a little too tired for a race. Instead went for something different that’d been on my mind for a while, a run home from the Cafe. Reaching the top of the Crimea was a temporary relief before in the distance below I saw Llyn Trawsfynedd, it was miles away & worse still the house lay 7 miles beyond it. Net result yesterday was my first rest day in 10, common sense better late than never!

Now the focus falls upon this Saturday’s (8th Nov.) Betws Trail Challenge, a local event, as well as the 10K I’ve entered there is also a 5K & a 10K Canicross. Be warned the hill at the start is every bit as steep as it looks but with the hard work out of the way early on you can let rip & enjoy Llyn Elsi & a fast descent to the finish.

Before that Dorina & I are planning a cycle/run around Llyn Vyrnwy tomorrow to catch the last of the Autumn colours, hoping the sun will shine through the bronze dappled canopy of beach trees. They may not be native but they are a wonderful sight at this time of year.
