Paul’s Blog – Llyn Peninsula Coastal Path Run

I seem to be making a habit of putting conflicting things in my diary this year, can only be an age thing. My latest calendar duplication (created by a good long term weather forecast for next week) is to finalise my timing for the Llyn Penisula run into the same week as the Trailfest race (see our events page, a race well worth entering & with a slightly changed course this year), ‘smart one that Paul.’ Having bumped into race organisers Sian & Dyfi yesterday whilst topping up on Gels etc. at Matt Ward’s very enticing Salomon shop I duly made my pre-race excuses ‘I’ll run if I can, but…..’

Back to the Llyn run, multi day distance running has clearly got me in a bit of a grip & the Llyn has seemed to be the obvious next step in Wales, here is the plan:-

Tuesday 17th Sept. – Starting at Bangor my aim is to get to Nefyn, approx. 39 Miles.

Wednesday 18th – Nefyn to hopefully Hells Mouth, approx. 37 Miles.

Thursday 19th – Hells Mouth to Porthmadog, approx. 37 Miles.

On the Tuesday I’ll aim to start at 9:00 am & subject to overnight accommodation breakfast options will start at a similar time on the following two days. Thinking (or is that false hope) that the terrain will be a little flatter than Anglesey I expect to be running for between 8 & 9 Hours each day covering a total of 113 Miles in a hopeful target time of 25 Hours if all goes well.

As with Anglesey I’ll be supported throughout my journey at regular intervals by John & Marion who will help update my progress on our facebook thingie.

Anyone wanting to tag along for a bit feel free to do so.

Next step is to recce the accommodation options later this week & remember not to put anything in my diary for Friday 20th (my day of rest) in the hope that I can run (not race) the glorious Trailfest.

Thanks in advance to John & Marion for giving me a chance to achieve a new goal.
