News from the Cafe

We have been delighted to receive a number of great messages from customers be they related to Gaby’s food, Dorina’s ‘Best in the Area’ Coffees, Our friendly & ambient atmosphere or Our Walks, to be fair Gaby’s cakes do seem to be dominating these.

As we have begun to establish ourselves we are thrilled with the repeat customers we are seeing & hope we can maintain & build on this further.

We are trying to improve our facilities as we go with initial improvements including New picnic tables & umbrellas (these were intended to protect you from the sun & not the rain), the partitioning off of the old sales area, additional books for sale & New Cake Stands that finally do Gaby’s cakes & scones justice.

In September Paul helped an Irish couple search for & find the crash site of an Air Lingus plane that came down in the Cwm Edno Bog on the South East flank of Moel Siabod some 60 years ago. This was as rewarding for him as it was for them especially when the commemorative plaque was finally located as well.

Dorina continues the running club with her fellow Ladies Carol & Zoe & this led to both Zoe & Dorina accompanying Paul in their first race in the form of the 5K Caernarfon Race the Train where they achieved a great time of 27 minutes.

Steve Peake whom we are still heavily in debt to for his photographic prints ordaining our walls & great video & photo’s on our web-site will soon be launching his new web-site. The least we can do is recommend him & it to you, simply click onto www.stevepeake.co.uk. in the coming weeks & await to see it changing to a new format soon.

This week we have two firsts for the cafe. All week we are catering for Oakland Outdoor Education Centre whom have a group of 43 checked into the Plas Hostel next door to the cafe. Dorina & Gaby have been taking round pre-prepared breakfasts & packed lunches at the crack of dawn & then evening meals at 18:00 to replenish the children after their long day. Oaklands is an umbrella of The Wirral L.A. & helps to support & widen the aspirations of children from dis-advantage backgrounds & we are of course pleased we could help in a small way. We were all impressed by the ambiance of the Luxury Plas Hostel & encourage you to check it out. Secondly from Friday until Sunday (5th/7th Oct.) in conjunction with the Snowdonia Arts Festival we are delighted to be exhibiting work by another local photographer John Rowell of Chasing the Light, we have yet to see the photographs which will be specifically of Snowdonia but are of course excited by the prospect.

I will try to keep future blogs shorter by being better behaved & sitting down & blogging more regularly.
