With the disappointment of Saturday’s race now behind me (& seen in a better context) it has felt good to get a couple of training runs under my belt including Betws & back as well as Moel Siabod (with a surprising amount of snow still lying on the ground). What was better still was that when I got down from Siabod, just in time to meet Arwel Lewis & Steve Brace (more of that later), I finally found (with Arwel’s help) that flat Marathon I’ve been looking for, in the form of the Wrexham Half Marathon.

Only trouble is it’s on March 8th & any specific training can only be limited due to Dorina’s & My Ski trip next week. That said I’ve entered it & have ordered a pair of Salomon ultra light road shoes from Matt Ward at Coed y Brenin in the hope that they’ll turn up in time, new footwear, very exciting as any runner will know!

Back to that meeting with Arwel & Steve, I am delighted to now confirm that the Cafe will host a mid-week race as part of this years Masters & World Championships this coming September. Full details to follow but for now it’s on Wednesday 16th September at 4:00pm & will be called the Siabod Summit race, does what it says on the tin, a race from the Siabod Cafe to the finish on the summit of Moel Siabod, great to be involved so thanks once again to Steve & Arwel.

Thanks to the woman (who was with her family on the lower slopes of Siabod) & the two guys who I gave directions to on the summit plateau for being respectively impressed & mystified by my exploits yesterday. I may be mid-pack but it is after all a very good pack to be part off! There is much to look forward to this year as long as I don’t keep landing on that sharp stone I found on yesterday’s descent too bloody often!
