Nepal Fund Raising – Reach out for Nepal – Posted 05/05/15

My thanks to John Rowell for his idea to combine my Siabod Summit Challenge into something bigger & more inspiring.

John’s idea is to have a whole day of events at the Cafe based on Nepal & with me being tied up on the slopes of Siabod he has kindly offered to pull the events together both in the lead up to & on the day itself. Over the next few weeks we will map out the loose framework for the day, we’ll welcome input from anyone who wants to take part, simply register an interest with either me or John, he can be contacted through his web site www.soulofsnowdonia.co.uk.

A few outlines of what is being lined up below but John will develop these & post updates over the coming weeks.

Date 27th June 2015

Siabod Summit Challenge – To summit Moel Siabod from the Cafe as many times as you want between the hours of sunrise & sunset (4:51 am to 21:46 pm). Sponsorship suggested to raise a minimum of £2 per summit per sponsor. Anyone interested should contact me directly on paul.hodges@hotmail.co.uk.

Dave Deere’s Moel Siabod Footprint walk – For those not wanting the slog up & down Siabod this will circumnavigate Moel Siabod, it will be a long sponsored walk of over 30 kilometres but at a more leisurely pace taking in old drovers paths which will hopefully introduce you to new areas of Snowdonia.

Audio Visuals of Nepal & the Himalaya’s will be played throughout the day on our screen.

Short evening presentations will be welcomed by anyone who has been to Nepal & wants to share their memories or photographs.

Mike Lees will hold a short (30 minutes or there about’s) Nepal Quiz, quite how he’s going to slot in who sang ‘Part of the Union’ into that I’m not sure.

Raffle with prizes donated by various organisations.

One thing we have yet to decide is where exactly the money raised should be donated to but our feelings are that it needs to be to a specific project where we can actively see what it helps to achieve & that it is possibly going to lead to something on a longer term basis. We would welcome all suggestions, simply e-mail John direct.

If you have a fund raising idea which you feel we could incorporate into the day/evening again please don’t hesitate to e-mail John.

Thanks to all those who have already indicated their support.
