Additional Info – Mountain walks – Part One

We want you to enjoy are surroundings, whether you are new to the area, experienced hill walker, novice or full on adrenalin junkie we think we’ve got a walk that will interest you & introduce you to some hidden gems. These walks are tailored to all levels of fitness & provide you with a wide choice of scenery & surroundings, to help you select a walk that suits you we have graded them on a star rating for Exersion Levels, Exposure, Scenery & Wildlife & explain these below.

Full route descriptions are on display in our cafe with a free printed copy available for you to take away, all you have to do is choose the walk that suits you & get out & enjoy yourself.

Exertion Stars

Five – Very Strenuous, need to be physically fit & use to long days in the mountains.
Four – Strenuous, need to be physically fit & use to walking on steep mountain terrain.
Three – Moderate to Strenuous, need to be physically fit & use to long rambles & countryside walks.
Two – Easy to Moderate, reasonable level of fitness & capable of a leisurely 2/5 hours of walking suitable for young children as well.
One – Easy, reasonably healthy to be capable of enjoying a short countryside walk, suitable for children as well.

Exposure Stars

Five – High Mountain Summits with Rocky Scrambly sections, experience in mountain terrain, navigation & weather conditions essential.
Four – Some remote/open to elements sections with detailed map navigation required.
Three –  Detailed Map navigation required.
Two – Experience of walking in low level countryside with Basic Navigation skills preferable.
One – Easy to follow walk, map advised but should not need referring to.

Scenery Stars

Five – Variety of views including from Mountain summits, Valleys, Lakes, Rivers & Woodland.
Four – Mountain Views, Valleys, Lakes, Rivers & Woodland.
Three – At least four diverse Snowdonia landscapes can be seen during the walk.
Two – At least three diverse Snowdonia landscapes can be seen during the walk.
One – At least two diverse Snowdonia landscapes can be seen during the walk.

Wildlife & Nature

Five – Probability of seeing a wide variety of wildlife including Birds of Prey, Mountain Goats or Ponies, Sheep & Cattle as well small mammals & fish. Variety of Plant life from trees & lichens to high level mountain flora & fauna.
Four – Probability of seeing Birds of Prey, Sheep & Cattle as well as small mammals & fish. Variety of Plant life excluding high level mountain flora & fauna.
Three – Probability of seeing Birds of Prey, Sheep, small mammals & fish. Variety of mainly forest & woodland Plant life.
Two – Probability/Possibility of seeing Birds of Prey, Sheep, small mammals. Variety of Woodland Plant life.
One – Possibility of seeing Birds of Prey, Sheep & small mammals. Variety of Woodland Plant life.
